Letter from the 2013 FPA DFW President
A welcome message from Dan Mauck
With another election year in the books and the “fiscal cliff” seemingly averted—at least for the moment—we shift our collective focus to meeting the challenges the new year is sure to bring. The FPA-DFW Chapter is likewise off to a fast start in 2013, and we are working hard to bring you a full slate of opportunities for learning, networking, and building your business.
We begin the year with a new theme: Leading From the Front. The truth is, the DFW Chapter is admired around the country for our strong programs and sizable member roster. We are blessed indeed. Our goal is to uphold that standard and grow toward the next level through innovating and creating new avenues of value for our members. Realize that YOU will be a key part of that process through your participation and feedback—and we welcome both.
Some of the events you won’t want to miss this year get kicked off with our annual Career Day, which has been expanded to offer something of interest for several career stages. Opening Day at the Ballpark will be special as well, as we will enjoy the climate-controlled privacy of the brand new, completely renovated “Batter’s Eye Suite” in Center Field. Just imagine…we will be the first group EVER to see a Rangers game from this awesome new suite, so sign up early!
Also, be sure to watch for networking and educational opportunities to be held at several new times and locations around the Metroplex. If one is in your vicinity, please do your best to join us and bring a colleague so we will know these ideas were a “hit.” And of course, we will offer a host of informative speakers at regular chapter meetings and our marquee event, Symposium.
No doubt you have heard us talk about the importance of committee involvement, and now is the time of year you can make that happen in an area about which you are passionate. This is one of the best ways you can help advance the profession and better your community concurrently. It takes less time than you probably think, and what we can accomplish when we all pitch in can make a huge difference. Not to mention, being an active part of the chapter increases the value you derive from your membership. Like the old adage says, “You get out of it what you put in.” With your help, we can make this our best year yet.
Much success to you in 2013!
