Powerful Conversations with Clients, Colleagues, and Yourself, in Difficult Times:
A presentation by Ed Jacobson, Ph.D.
|
 |
All of us – planners, staff members, clients, and everyone else – find ourselves in uncharted territory these days. The turbulence and volatility in the financial markets are unprecedented in our lifetimes, if not earlier. Each of us struggles, from time to time, to maintain our balance as we weather this bumpy ride. What to do when you’re in uncharted territory? Reach for your compass, get your coordinates, and forge onward with greater confidence and sense of direction.
Join us on January 30, 2009, as Ed Jacobson, Ph.D. charts our course during this taxing period. Ed’s framework of “Powerful Conversations with Clients, Colleagues, and Yourself, in Difficult Times” draws on his forty years of experience as a psychologist, coach, and organizational consultant. He will show us how to “get real” first with ourselves – how to take care of ourselves so that we can be at our best with our first responders (the people in our firms who have the greatest amount of contact with our clients) as well as with our clients. He then shows us how to help our staff members to be at their best, and finally, how to have those “wish-we-didn’t-have-to” conversations with clients. A highlight of the presentation is Ed’s concrete steps for dealing with strong client emotionality. Ed promises this to be a useful, important, and (believe it or not) enjoyable presentation. He looks forward to seeing you there, and to having “Powerful Conversations” with us!

Reducing Fiduciary Risk:
A presentation by Ronald E. Hagan, President & CEO of Roland I Criss
|
| |
Corporate retirement plan participants, public employees, investors, donors to charitable organizations, and taxpayers all want to know that their money is handled by trustworthy parties. Organizations that get certified against fiduciary standards approved by the Investment Fiduciary Leadership Council (“IFLC”) prove to the public their competency, safety and independence. This session introduces the certification standards that retirement plan sponsors, investors, and trustees use to decide who will service their needs. The certification programs will be described, with emphasis on the assessment process, how you can prepare for it, and the benefits you will derive from it. This session will describe how fiduciaries employed by the following organizations can perform at the highest level of excellence and reduce their risk in the process:
• Investment advisors
• Financial planners
• Registered representatives of broker/dealers
• Investment managers
• Retirement plan sponsors
• Public pensions
• Foundations and endowments
• Recordkeepers and third party administrators
